Four Stars For Good Luck Products Co. Ltd.
Good Luck Products Co. Ltd. is the latest group to land four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) status for shrimp, with the BAP certification of its feed mill in Thailand.
Located in Samut Sakhon province, S. Pat & Peach Feedmill Co. Ltd. just attained BAP certification, a little more than a month after Good Luck’s Somrak shrimp hatchery attained BAP certification.
Also BAP certified are Good Luck’s processing plant and four-farm IOM (integrated operating module) and a five-farm IOM, all in Thailand. Additionally, a nine-farm IOM is set to be audited this month, and a 12-farm group is preparing to enroll in the iBAP program, which is a precursor to applying for BAP certification.
National Fish & Seafood supported Good Luck’s shrimp farms in their pursuit of BAP certification with a direct interest in the Good Luck complex.
“We couldn’t be prouder of this momentous achievement by our partners at Good Luck to attain the highest level of aquaculture certification. This is a testament to the commitment of Good Luck and National Fish to the sustainable future of shrimp production as envisioned by both companies’ leaders’ years ago,” said James Baros, aquaculture and sustainability manager for National Fish & Seafood. “Good Luck was one of the first shrimp processing plants to receive BAP certification and piloted the precursor to the IOM program. Last year they completed their own hatchery and feed mill, which are now supplying certified and traceable inputs to all our farm groups to help us achieve our vision of 100 percent four-star BAP shrimp in the U.S. marketplace.”
At the end of March, 1,165 processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills were BAP certified.
