GAA Participates In Asian Aquaculture Insurance & Risk Management Conference
The Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Carson Roper and Marcos Moya were among the more than 25 presenters at the inaugural Asian Aquaculture Insurance & Risk Management Conference at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Kowloon, Hong Kong, from May 13 to 15.
Organized by AUMS Ltd., the three-day conference centered on the transfer of aquaculture insurance knowledge and experience to the developing Asian market.
Aquaculture producers, bankers and investors, insurers, loss adjusters, attorneys, risk-management surveyors and government officials attended.
Roper, international business development manager for GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices third-party certification program, gave a presentation titled “The Aquaculture Industry: Key Financial Decision-Making Drivers and the Implications for the Aquaculture Insurance Industry.”
“With attendees from 26 countries, the Asian Aquaculture Insurance & Risk Management (AAIRM) Conference provided an excellent opportunity to explore the benefits of integrating third-party certification schemes such as GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices certification program with aquaculture insurance,” said Roper.
Roper, who joined the BAP market development team in April, focuses primarily on promoting the BAP program in Europe and Asia.
Marcos Moya, BAP executive consultant, gave a presentation titled “Insurance Needs of the Shrimp Industry.”
