This year’s Mini-GOAL will focus on the need to deliver more certified farmed seafood to the marketplace, with a mix of representatives from the NGO, production and retail communities addressing the key hindrances, including early mortality syndrome in shrimp, feed sustainability and accessibility of third-party certification.

This 90-minute seminar will feature three brief presentations followed by a question-and-answer panel discussion, with time for the audience to ask questions. The topics addressed at Mini-GOAL will be discussed in detail at GAA’s GOAL 2014 conference at the Sheraton Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from Oct. 7 to 10.

The panelists are GAA President George Chamberlain; Dan Lee, Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) standards coordinator; Peter Redmond, BAP VP of business development; Avrim Lazar, principle consultant for the Global Salmon Initiative; Ricardo Garcia, general manager of Camanchaca; and Scott Williams, associate VP of quality assurance and environmental stewardship for BJ’s Wholesale Club. The moderator is Steven Hedlund, GAA communications manager.
