Aquaculture Feed Manufacturer IRIDA Earns BAP Certification In Greece

First For Greece, Mediterranean: Feed Mill Lands BAP Certification

IRIDA S.A. BAP certification Congratulations to IRIDA S.A., Greece’s first-ever facility — as well as the Mediterranean region’s first-ever facility — to attain BAP certification from Best Aquaculture Practices.

IRIDA is a fish feed manufacturer in Evia, Greece, producing around 48,000 metric tons of feed annually for sea bream, sea bass, meagre and trout, supplying high-quality feed to aquaculture producers worldwide.

“This is our first certified facility in Greece and the Mediterranean, and we are very proud and excited about one of the region’s leading feed manufacturers being BAP certified,” said Marcos Moya, BAP manager of supply development.

The feed mill graduated from the iBAP program in February before applying for BAP certification. The iBAP program is a precursor to BAP certification, designed for facilities that are not quite ready to apply for BAP certification. Facilities that enroll in iBAP agree to a step-by-step, deadline-driven improvement plan and are recognized by the marketplace for doing so.

The BAP program is beginning to make inroads into Mediterranean aquaculture. In addition to IRIDA’s feed mill, a sea bream hatchery in Cyprus is currently enrolled in iBAP.
