James Wright Joins GAA As Editorial Manager
The Global Aquaculture Alliance is pleased to announce that James Wright has joined the organization, effective July 6. Wright will act as GAA’s editorial manager.
Wright comes to GAA from Diversified Communications, where he acted as senior editor of SeafoodSource.com, a daily seafood news website with more than 40,000 subscribers worldwide. SeafoodSource.com is part of Diversified’s seafood portfolio, which includes Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Expo North America.
Previously, Wright served as senior editor of SeaFood Business from 2011 to 2014 and assistant editor/associate editor of the monthly magazine from 2005 to 2011. His experience in seafood dates back to 1999, as assistant editor of the Gofish.com seafood news website through 2001. Wright also has experience in marketing and PR, acting as marketing director of Browne Trading Company in Portland, Maine. He is a graduate of the National Fisheries Institute’s Future Leaders program.
“We are delighted to have a seafood journalist of Jamie’s experience join our organization,” said GAA Executive Director Wally Stevens. “GAA’s mission is to advocate, educate and demonstrate responsible aquaculture to feed and employ future generations. A critical element of that mission is education, and Jamie will make important contributions to our educational outreach.”
GAA is also pleased to announce that it is launching a new website for its Global Aquaculture Advocate magazine, and upping the frequency of its e-newsletter from biweekly to weekly. Wright will oversee the day-to-day operations of the new Advocate website, which will host all Advocate content. The new Advocate website is scheduled to launch on Oct. 1. Wright will also contribute to all editorial-related matters, including GAA’s GOAL conference program.
Wright will work from GAA’s Portsmouth, New Hampshire, office and report to GAA Communications Manager Steven Hedlund. His email address is james.wright@gaalliance.org.
