NFI Future Leaders and SeaShare: Collaborating for a Cause
In honor of U.S. National Seafood Month in October, the Global Aquaculture Alliance is teaming up with the National Fisheries Institute’s Future Leaders Class of 2018 to assist SeaShare, a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 to help connect the industry to hunger-relief efforts in the United States.
This year, a collection of classmates, including GAA Marketing Manager Devan Meserve, are soliciting product and monetary donations on behalf of SeaShare. As part of this effort, GAA has pledged to donate $1,000.
The Class of 2018 and GAA encourages all industry members to consider donating product, services or money to this worthy cause. If you’re unable to donate product or services, monetary donations are accepted through the SeaShare website.
The NFI’s Future Leaders program was co-founded in 1998 by GAA’s very own Wally Stevens. Future Leaders is a unique, hands-on program for industry professionals who are seeking to grow within their organizations and advance their careers. According to the NFI website, “No other setting combines this kind of in-depth exposure to such a diversity of issues along with the opportunity to network and learn with a small group of industry peers representing the leaders of today and tomorrow. Who should participate? Any individual who values education and leadership training will find this program invaluable as a tool for growth within our industry.”
As part of the year-long program, the class is tasked with coming together on an industry-wide project. The Class of 2018 proudly supports the work of SeaShare, the only organization that maximizes the donation potential of the entire seafood industry.
Thank you for believing in the power of seafood! Your donation will help those served by food banks and feeding centers across the country.
Happy #NationalSeafoodMonth!
