bob kennedyNote: The Global Aquaculture Alliance spotlights various members dedicated to GAA’s mission of responsible aquaculture. Membership starts at only $50 for individuals and $5,000 for businesses. Start utilizing our extensive benefits. Featured this month is Bob Kennedy of Acadia Benefits.

Tell us a little bit about your background.

I grew up in Connecticut and have lived in Maine for over 30 years.  So I guess you could say I am a true New Englander at heart!  I’ve spent my career working in the field of employee benefits and have been a partner at a firm based in Portland, Maine for 20 years.  I work closely with employers of all sizes helping them design and implement employee benefit programs so they can better recruit and retain great employees.

Why did you join GAA?

acadia benefitsI work with a group of aquaculture businesses here in Maine and New Hampshire, including GAA.  I was excited to get involved and learn more about the industry!

What solutions does responsible aquaculture provide?

I have learned from various HR leaders in this field that responsible aquaculture provides unique collaboration.  Although it’s a large industry, the number of people that work in it is small and we have the opportunity to share best practices, what’s working, what’s not working, very easily.  And although we may consider ourselves local here in Northern New England, our actions make an impact globally.
