GAA Congratulates GSA, Seafish on Release of Responsible Fishing Vessel Standard
The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) congratulates Global Seafood Assurances (GSA), the independent, not-for-profit organization it established in April 2018, for officially taking ownership of the Responsible Fishing Vessel Standard (RFVS) from Seafish on June 10, following a two-year, open and collaborative development process.
RFVS, which is the next iteration of Seafish’s Responsible Fishing Scheme (RFS), is now publicly available. RFVS is a voluntary, vessel-based certification standard enabling commercial fishing operations to provide assurance of decent working conditions and operational best practices through independent, third-party auditing. RFVS is comprised of two core principles — vessel management and safety systems, and crew rights, safety and wellbeing.
