BAP Launches Second Supply Chain Transparency Video

BAP Releases Second Supply Chain Transparency Video

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program recently launched a second video about its supply chain transparency technology.

More than 150 retailers, foodservice operators and seafood suppliers worldwide are publicly committed to sourcing seafood responsibly from BAP-certified facilities. As a BAP endorser, companies have access free of charge to BAP’s supply chain transparency technology, which provides them with visibility into their supply chains. This process helps increase engagement throughout the production chain and increase the volume of products from BAP-certified facilities.

The video launched this week provides an overview of the step-by-step process a BAP endorser goes through as part of the supply chain transparency program. Here’s how it works:

Step One: Letters are sent to the suppliers involved in that endorser’s supply chain asking them to submit data relative to the endorser’s needs by species and the BAP-certified facilities in their supply chain.

Step Two: BAP collects the data and it’s inputted into BAP’s supply chain transparency technology.

Step Three: The data is analyzed to identify gaps, risks and overlaps in the endorser’s supply chain.

Step Four: The BAP market development team then presents this data to the endorsers and suppliers.

Step Five: The project is initiated, and BAP works with the endorser and suppliers to address any gaps, risks or overlaps identified.

Step Six: The process is continually managed through PORTal.
