STIP Signs On As a GOAL 2019 Contributing Partner

STIP Signs On As GOAL 2019 Contributing Partner

GOAL 2019 conferenceThe Global Aquaculture Alliance is pleased to announce that the Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal (STIP) will be a contributing partner of GAA’s GOAL 2019 conference as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that the two organizations signed on March 27.

This year’s GOAL (Global Outlook for Aquaculture Leadership) conference will be held at the Leela Palace in Chennai, India, from Oct. 21 to 24. It is the first time that GOAL will be held in India in its 19-year history. It is also the 20th installment of GOAL as well as the 10th time that GOAL has been held in Asia.

Based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, STIP is an independent social enterprise aiming to increase transparency in seafood supply chains and develop investment partnerships, with the goal of creating a more sustainable seafood industry. STIP also publishes Shrimp Tails magazine and operates a shrimp and finfish farm gate price portal. Founded in 2013, STIP is backed by the Dutch NGO Solidaridad Network.

As part of the agreement, STIP will contribute to the conference program, acting as advisors on the content for the morning plenary and contributing content for the afternoon breakouts.

“I always tell our members that GOAL is the perfect networking place. A high level audience conference that tries to address issues that are important to all of us, including production challenges but also market challenges. We are eager to work with GAA to have a broader EU representation at the conference and with that improve the quality of the dialogue to an even higher level. We are certain that this year’s GOAL in India, one of the world’s largest shrimp producers, will be a great event and we look forward to contributing to it,” said Willem van der Pijl, founder and director of STIP.

“Willem has been attending GOAL since Paris in 2013, and I’m elated that two like-minded organizations like GAA and STIP are working together to improve the learning and networking experience at the conference,” said Steven Hedlund, GAA’s communications manager, who’s responsible for developing the conference program. “GOAL is a pre-competitive event, an opportunity to put day-to-day business aside and bring together all industry segments to discuss shared responsibilities and goals. STIP takes a very similar approach in its work, so partnering on an event like GOAL to strengthen the attendee experience and move the dial on the challenges and opportunities facing aquaculture, particularly in India, is a no-brainer.”

Also as part of the agreement, STIP will encourage its audience to participate in and attend GOAL 2019.

STIP joins Aqua-Spark as one of two current GOAL 2019 contributing partners. Nine companies are sponsoring GOAL 2019, including five platinum sponsors (Apex Frozen Foods, Devi Fisheries, Devi Seafoods, Preferred  Freezer Services and Sandhya Marines), three gold sponsors (Falcon Marine Exports, U.S. Soybean Export Council and Veramaris) and one silver sponsor (Grobest).
